Summary

Appropriation Act No. 4, 2018-19 allows the government to spend up to $2,506,921,491 from the federal money pool. This money is for covering costs and bills of the federal government for the year ending March 31, 2019. This act makes sure that the government has the money it needs to operate. The money will be used for different things, as shown in two schedules. These schedules list the departments and agencies that will get the money.

Schedule 1 lists specific amounts for different departments and agencies. It allows them to use the money for things like running their programs, making payments, and building new things. Some examples include money for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the Department of National Defence, and the Department of Indigenous Services Canada.

Schedule 2 lists extra money that can be used in both the current year and the next year. This gives the government some flexibility in how it spends the money. This part includes money for the Canada Revenue Agency and the Parks Canada Agency. The Act also allows for the transfer of funds that were approved in previous estimates.

The Act also says that the money can only be used for the reasons listed in the schedules. It also lets the government make changes to the accounts after the end of the year, as long as it doesn't need to take more money out of the pool.
