Summary
Appropriation Act No. 2, 2021-22 allows the government to spend up to $82,727,631,113 from the country's money pool. This money is for the federal public administration's expenses for the year ending March 31, 2022. This spending was not already approved in other laws.
The law says how the money can be used. It can only be used for the reasons and under the rules listed for each item. Money from Schedule 1 can be adjusted in the accounts even after the fiscal year ends, but before the public accounts are presented to Parliament. This is to make sure the books are correct, but it does not allow for new payments.
For Schedule 2, adjustments can be made after the following fiscal year, but before those public accounts are presented. The money in Schedule 2 can be spent anytime until March 31, 2023, but it has to be used in the order it was approved, starting with the oldest law first. Any money left over from this law, after adjustments, will disappear at the end of the fiscal year following March 31, 2022.
Schedule 1 lists different government departments and agencies, along with the amounts they are allowed to spend. This includes things like salaries, operating costs, grants, and capital projects. Schedule 2 lists additional amounts that can be used for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, and the following year, for specific purposes.
